Mike McCarn

Michael Stephen "Mike" McCarn, age 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday August 22, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.  He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Jack and Hilda Sutton McCarn.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Terry McCarn.  

Mike was a man whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and gospel music. His love for the Lord was an important part of who he was, and throughout his life he was blessed to be part of several church families, including Music Director at Pearl Baptist Church in Iron Station, Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly, Fraley Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia, and Hope Baptist Church in Lincolnton.  Those who knew Mike knew how much he loved gospel music. Music brought him great joy throughout his life. He especially enjoyed his times singing with Jerry and the Singing Goffs and The Kinsmen Quartet. The songs and messages of faith found in gospel music held a special place in his heart and were a meaningful part of his life.  More than anything, Mike will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the life he shared with those closest to him. His presence, stories, laughter, faith, and the memories created over the years will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two children Jordan McCarn (Ana) and Miranda McCarn; his granddaughter Chloe, as well as many cousins, and extended family members.  

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 26, 2026 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service also at the Funeral Home.  Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
