Nellie Rhyne Pettus, 94, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Jack R. Rhyne and Flossie Farrington Rhyne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack W. Pettus; her son, Robert L. Pettus; and her grandsons, Jason, Travis, and Matthew Pettus.
Mrs. Pettus is survived by her children, Joyce Peeler, David Pettus (Evelyn), and Kathy Fisher; 8 grandchildren; a number of great and great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Barbara Beal, Christine Howell (Scottie), Jack Rhyne (Sandy), and Martha Butler; sister-in-law, June Pettus; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pettus will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly, NC.
