Parke Sweigart Obituary

Parke Eugene Sweigart, age 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday August 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.  He was born in Chester County Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Sweigart.  He was a member and former Deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Stanley.  Parke was a jack of all trades who loved his family dearly.  His hobbies included traveling, hunting, watching NASCAR, and gardening.  He was also known as a very dedicated and hard worker.  Parke was a Firefighter and EMT in Bradenton, FL.  Parke and his wife were the foster parents to many children.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter Virginia.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 50 years Darlene Sweigart; his children Brian Sweigart (Deanna), Rhonda Gray, and Regina Sweigart , two sisters: Marian Riehl, and Verna Hertzler (Dwight), five grandchildren, as well as five great-grandsons.  A service to celebrate Parke's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday September 10, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Stanley, NC.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday also at the Church.  A private graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society: PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or to First Presbyterian Church - Stanley, NC: 512 Old Mt.
