Peggy Deitz Broome, 84, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 25, 2021. She was born in Gaston County to the late Charlie and Pansy Fox Deitz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odell J. "Sonny" Broome, as well as her son Roddy Broome, and her sister Betty Bumgarner. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Malia Alexander and her husband Rodney; her sister Shirley Nichols; grandchildren, Jamie Revels, Jessica Seaford, and Phillip Broome; three step grandchildren, Melissa Lemmond, Tiffany Tracy, and Samantha Alexander; twelve great grandchildren; and her two nieces Beverly Raines and Sharon Strickland. A lifelong member of Westview Presbyterian Church, Peggy was a member of the choir and served as the music director for many years. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate her life will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
