Rachel Susan (Waldrop) Cox

Mrs. Rachel Waldrop Cox, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and sister, age 92, of Mount Holly, died on September 10, 2022, at the Greens of Lincolnton.

Mrs. Cox was born in Timmonsville, SC, on December 10, 1929. She was the oldest daughter of the late John Wesley and Mae Reynolds Waldrop. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Evans Blair (E.B.) Cox, Jr., son, Michael R. Cox of Franklin, NC, siblings, John Wesley Waldrop (Buddy), and William Albert Waldrop (Al), and one grandson, Joshua Matthew Cox. She was a dedicated, popular elementary school teacher at Pinewood Elementary in Mount Holly.

Survivors include 2 sons, Timothy Blair Cox, Sr. (Lydia) of Stanley, and Matthew Stephan Cox (Sherry) of Stanley; 2 daughters, Mary Cox Wilson (Doug) of Belmont, and Mona Cox Morgan (Michael) of Denver; 2 sisters, Mrs. Linda Stokes of Florence, SC, and Mrs. Beth Howell (Carlton) of Timmonsville, SC; a brother, Ricky Waldrop of Florence, SC, 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Real Life Church, Stanley, with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
