Rem Courtney Rhyne

Gastonia-Rem Courtney Rhyne, 63, a beloved husband and dad, went to be with the Lord on March 31,2026, at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer facing his final challenge with the same strong spirit and determination.

He was born in Gastonia, son of the late Thomas David and Jean Stamey Rhyne of Belmont.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Amanda 'Mandy' White Rhyne, who supported and loved each other and his son, Colby (Keleigh).

Rem graduated from South Point High School in 1980, Belmont, NC. He was a dedicated employee of Duke Energy Corp. where he was a heavy equipment mechanic before transitioning into the parts department. His last assignment was at Catawba Nuclear Station. Rem enjoyed tinkering in his shop repairing almost anything. He loved his music and playing drums as well as his you tube videos. Rem loved our many dogs we had over the years but his French Bulldog, Salem, was his his special baby who he lovingly called “Bunny”. Rem had many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jean, sisters Pam Harris and Kim Gaston.

The legacy of Rem lives on in the hearts of all whom know him. He will be deeply missed by his wife and son as well as his many friends. We all have a Guardian Angel watching over us.

The funeral service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mt. Holly, NC on Saturday April 11, 2026 at 3:00 pm.

At Rem’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Rem was a devoted donor for many years.
