It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Bruce (Bobby) Bellamy, 51, announces his sudden passing on November 18, 2025. A man of diverse talents and a generous spirit, Bobby left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in engineering, Bobby built a highly successful career in Charlotte, NC. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a true Renaissance man. His life was a vibrant tapestry of music, gardening, and culinary arts; he was particularly well-known for his legendary Mexican-inspired holiday feasts and his original compositions performed with bands he organized and led. An outdoor enthusiast, Bobby found joy white-water kayaking and mountain biking with his close circle of friends. Bobby’s legacy is defined by his kindness. A dedicated philanthropist, he gave selflessly to the arts and spent many hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and similar organizations. Touched by many and a true friend to those who were close, he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving aunt Jeanne Marie Tinsley and survived by his devoted parents, Robert R. and Mary Kathleen Bellamy of Mount Holly, NC; his sister, Lisa Olin, and her husband Jonathan; and his cherished niece and nephew, Rebecca and James Olin. He also leaves behind his close aunt Carol Lorraine Bellamy of Greenville, SC and grandmother, Margaret Cosier of Gastonia, NC.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on May 3, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Union at Station West, located at 919 Berryhill Rd, Suite 105, Charlotte, NC 28208. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of a life lived to the fullest.
