Robert Franklin ("Bobby") Hice

Robert "Bobby" Franklin Hice, 82, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 25, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Bobby was born in Gaston County, son of the late Frank and Mary Bess Hice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gary Hice, Glynis Foxworthy, Clarence Groves, and Jean Stowe.

Bobby's fondest memories included meeting, dating, and marrying his wife of 62 years, Rachel "Becky" Grubbs Hice, and the birth of his five children, Jim Hice (Vanessa), Barry Hice, Todd Hice (Ginger), Susan Hice Caldwell (Ken), and Geoffrey Hice. In addition to his loving wife and children, Bobby is survived by his grandchildren, Leslie, Laurie, Michael, Katie, David, Rebecca, Matthew, and Sarah; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild; his sisters, Miriam Lay (Roger) and Gaynelle Ratchford; and a number of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Bobby enjoyed the mountains, the beauty of sunflowers, spending time with family and friends, yardwork, and making things with his hands. One of his favorite sayings was "get started, or you will never get it done". Bobby loved his Lord and was thankful each day to Him for His blessings to allow for him to work, provide for his family, and have a blessed life. Bobby was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Gastonia.

A service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Ln., Gastonia, NC. Pastor Junior Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
