Ruby (Marlowe) Garrett

Ruby Marlowe Garrett, 89, of Mount Holly, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 31, 2022 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.  She was born in McDowell County and was the daughter of the late Luther and Rosie Marlowe.  Ruby will be remembered as a Christian woman who always put other people's needs ahead of her own.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking for her family and always made sure people were fed.  She also enjoyed Christmas time and watching parades.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Mitchell Thurman Frady, her stepson David Hicks Garrett III, as well as five brothers and one sister.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 41 years David Garrett Jr., her children Karen Emory, Mitch Frady (Iris), Tim Frady (Violet), Les Frady (Kimberly); her grandchildren: Terry Emory Jr., Melissa Emory, April Cochran, Johnathan Frady, Tiffany Scott, Kaleb Frady, and Jacob Frady, as well as eleven great grandchildren.    A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday January 5th, 2023 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church 3717 Hickory Grove Rd. Gastonia, NC 28056 with Pastor Tom Kinman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday also at the Church.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly.   In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gaston Hospice or to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
