Sally Jane Townsend Ormsby, born on July 34, 1961 in Ithaca, New York to Roger and Judith Townsend, went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on May 8, 2025. She graduated from South Seneca Central School in 1979 in Ovid, NY.
She was a photographer with the US Navy for two years, stationed in Brunswick, Maine where she met and married the love of her life, Dan, married for almost 44 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, Co-Coordinator for the Pioneer Clubs, was an active Circle and Life group member and participated in the Women in the Church.
She was a stay at home Mom, part time Preschool teacher at FPC Child Development Center, Teacher assistant at Springfield Elementary and owner and operator of AAA Trophies for twenty two years.
She loved the Lord and her family, She prioritized raising her children to know the Lord as well. She enjoyed spending time with her family and Grandchildren, who knew her as Grammie. She loved hosting family gatherings, parties, and the Grandkids' favorite, Cousin's Camp.
When we think about her life, we can't thank her enough for all the ways she enriched the lives of us and those around her. She was an amazing person, Mom, and wife. We will miss her dearly and look forward to the day when we are reunited with her in Heaven. She meant the world to us and we'll love her always.
Sally is survived by her Dad, Roger Townsend (Joann), Mom, Judith Boykin (Al), Sisters Susan Borden (Bill) and Sherry Lombardo (Mark), husband Dan Ormsby, daughter Dawn Edwards (Ben), sons Jeff Ormsby (Autumn) and Matt Ormsby (Heather); grandchildren Ames, Noah and Aaron Ormsby, Sam Ormsby, and Grace and Everly Edwards.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Sally will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday May 17th at the First Presbyterian Church in Stanley, with Reverend Dan King officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private inurnment for the family will follow in the Stanley Cemetery.
