Sandra (Sherrill) Howell

Sandra "Sandy" Sherrill Howell, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late William J. Sherrill and Helen King Sherrill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Lyn Sherrill; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Howell and Barbara Hubbard Howell; and father and mother-in-law, Robert and Madlynn Howell.

Sandra dedicated her life to taking care of her family and others, through her work at Holy Angels. She enjoyed sitting on her screened porch, humming old gospel hymns, and looking at her roses. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dewey Houston "Hugh" Howell; her children, Dana Stamey (David), Cheryl Howell Gation; and Jason M. Howell (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Justin Howell, Megan Stamey, Daniel Stamey, Jessica Strickland, Hope Floyd, Lee Floyd, and Sara Howell; 21 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jeffery Sherrill; her brothers-in-law, Scotty Howell (Christine), Mike Howell (Gayle), and Steve Howell; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, NC. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, NC. The Howell family will greet guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 375 Woodlawn Ave., Mount Holly, NC 28120.
