Sarah Elizabeth Yandle Blair, 96, of Charlotte, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday January 31, 2026. Sarah known by many as "Dolly" was born in Charlotte, NC on June 6, 1929, the 6th child of seven children. Born to the late Amos B. Yandle Sr. and Mary Helms Yandle. A native of Charlotte, Dolly married Jacob "Freddie" Blair Jr. They were married 55 years before his death in March 2008.
Sarah spent many of her younger years at Ocean Drive Beach where she won many dance contests and was an influence of the "Shag" era. Sarah also won Ocean Drive beauty of the week. She had numerous jobs throughout her life, including switchboard operator for LaPointe Chevrolet. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, (Nana), and great grandmother; a mighty example of prayer and faith.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband "Freddie", daughter Mary Elizabeth, granddaughter Sarah Camry, grandson Justin Franklin, two sons-in-law John Van Dam and Glen Cameron Slayton. Timothy Dale Howell; as well as 6 siblings: Casey, "Buster", Junior, Rev. Bob, Ethel Mae, and Frances.
Sarah is survived by sons; Jim Blair (Kathy), of TN, Jack Blair (Melinda) of Texas, daughters Debra and Bobbie of North Carolina. Grandchildren: Christopher Blair, Casey Blair (Somer), Jason Blair (Kristen), Charity Roberson (Martin), Krista Blair, Gloria Slayton, Cameron Slayton (Tori), Michelle Hancock (Kenny), Christen Thompson (John), Blair Howell, Collin Smith (Frankie). She is also survived by her sister in law Jeanette Yandle; Granddaughter in law Amanda Blair (Lillie, Hollyn, Lochlan) Grandson in law Ben Evans (Silas, Briar). as well as 23 great grandchildren
Sarah was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was a special part of The Jolly Sixties there. Also, she enjoyed Shady Brook Baptist Church senior activities. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Harris Hospice Staff (3rd floor Presbyterian Medical Center) for their excellent care and love shown to "Sarah Dolly" during her final days on this earth.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10,2026 at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
