Shelia G. Chapman, passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2024. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Mary Doris Chapman. She was a retired Pharmacist at Eckerd Pharmacy in Stanley, where she deeply cared for her patients and was committed to her community. She loved to travel and traveled the world with her mother. She LOVED Tarheel sports. She was a PROUD UNC Graduate with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Stanley, where she served in the Music Ministry. She along with her mother co-founded the food pantry at First United Methodist Church over 20 years ago, which currently serves 500 people a month. She was a pianist, organist, assisted in leading the children’s choir, and led as the choral director for many years. She was called to share God’s love through missions. She was deeply committed to serving the people of Red Bird Missions and Heifer International. She shared God’s love through missions both at home and abroad. She was a prayer warrior and shared the Gospel message in both words and deed. Sheila had a deep love for family, and retired early to take care of her mother. She gave much of her life caring for her grandmother, Mozelle, and her mother. She ensured that they had a beautiful life full of smiles and laughter. She loved her church family and especially her "sister in Christ" Tabitha Owens. She will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 2, 2024 at the Stanley Cemetery with Pastor Brian Elwell officiating. The friends and loved ones of Shelia will gather for a time of remembrance after the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 5481 Hickory Grove Road, Stanley, NC 28164.
