Shirley Goers Biggerstaff, of Mount Holly, NC passed away December 3rd, 2024. She was born July 15th, 1943 to Nettie Mae Goers in Charlotte NC. She leaves behind four children, Theresa Miller and spouse Lonnie, Shellie Benfield and spouse David, John Biggerstaff and spouse Shana, and Beverly VanCour; nine grandchildren, David Miller and spouse, Chris Miller and spouse, Aaron Miller, Meghan Yarbro and spouse, Josh Benfield and spouse, Johnathan Biggerstaff, Emily Biggerstaff, Corey York, and Samantha VanCour; and many great grandchildren.
Shirley lived a happy life full of family and love. She loved her mother and told stories about her throughout her life. She loved her husband Samuel, and they raised a family of four kids. In 56 years, they managed to grow quite the family. With grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren, it’s clear that Shirley expressed the importance of family to her children. There was little that Shirley loved more than spending time with her grandchildren. Every holiday was centered around Shirley’s house, as she loved to host and cook for everyone. She catered for others both inside and outside of her family. She was a provider through and through, and never let anyone go without.
Shirley will be remembered most for her hardworking and caring spirit. She worked for 30 years in Gaston County Schools Nutrition as a Cafeteria Manager and did her job well. She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, and it was no secret that she’d do anything for them. She was a follower of Christ and will forever leave a mark on her family as someone they knew would always look out for them. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, held at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly on December 9th at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America by visiting ALZFDN.org
