Shirley Inez (Carpenter) Gelsinger

Shirley Inez Carpenter Gelsinger, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of Earl Buford Carpenter and Ruth May Queen Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Richard Gelsinger; her daughter, Gaye Greer; and her son, Bo Gelsinger.

Mrs. Gelsinger is survived by her children, Jill Coleman (Terry), Ginger Hornbuckle (Tim), and Rick Gelsinger (Kim); her grandchildren, David Coleman (Sarah), Mandy Beaudry (Mark), Jonathan Coleman, Jennifer Hornbuckle (Patrick Lewalter), Alisha Pruette (David), Amy Greene (Josh), and Maggie Gelsinger; her great-grandchildren, Caleb Hornbuckle, Savannah Pruette, Gavin Beaudry, Aubree Greene, Gabe Greene, Chloe Greene, Wesley Coleman, and Emmett Coleman; her sisters, Joann Moore and Barbara Irvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gelsinger will forever be known as "Maw Maw Shirley" through the many lives of children that she cared for during her life. Her heart and home was shared selflessly and her legacy lives through the hearts of everyone she touched.

The family of Mrs. Gelsinger will hold a memorial service on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
