Shirley Jean (Vickers) West

Shirley Vickers West. age 86, went home to be with her Lord on Monday November 6, 2023 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.  She was born in Spartanburg, SC and was the daughter of the late Pearson Vickers and Etta Blackwell.  She was a loving mother and especially loved her grandkids.  She was a longtime member of Iron Station Church of God, and also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and shopping.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years Grover West, her son Grover Anthony West, as well as 8 brothers and 2 sisters.  Those left to Cherrish her memory include her children Janice West (Dean), and Mark West; her brother Samuel Vickers; Grandchildren: Ashley Spencer (James) Lanee Stapleton; great grandchildren: Clark Stapleton, Anna Stapleton, Jordan Spencer, and Payten Spencer; her great - great granddaughter Blake Lee Murphy, as well as her cat Missy.  A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday November 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday also at the Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
