Sue Ramsey Obituary

On March 31, 2026, Sue Worley Ramsey left this world with no memories and burst into the Arms of the One who died for her, knowing EXACTLY who HE was!

Our Mom was born on May 18, 1934, on Big Pine in Marshall, NC to Hobert and Evelyn Baker Worley. She was pre-deceased by her parents and sisters, Nina Henderson, Ruby Davis, Agnes Randall, Jean Gault, Jackie Goldsmith, Judith Ann Worley, and brothers Rom Worley, Alvin Worley, Wade Worley, and the father of her children, Harry Ramsey.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Pat) Price of Mount Holly, NC and son Marty Ramsey of Cullowhee, NC, granddaughter Leighanna (Justin) Helms, great-grandson Tucker Helms of Fort Bragg, NC, and great-granddaughters Reagan and Shelby Helms of Stanley, NC. She is also survived by her baby sister June (Billy) Clark of Red Banks, MS, and (you can imagine!) bunches of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mom was a voracious Reader of the Word, all books of history, best selling authors, and health. Until these last few years, she was an avid gardener and long-distance walker. She loved her Lord, her family, Sprite, Werthers caramel hard candies, singing hymns, and any potato fried, mashed, chipped, boiled, baked, stewed, or waffled, and a good sausage biscuit chased with a stalk of cauliflower.

She found Southern  Bell in Cincinnati,OH and Knoxville, TN then lived in Sylva, NC, Tallahassee, FL, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Salisbury, NC. Her Creator saw fit to then place her family in Cullowhee, NC where she worked as a telephone operator in Sylva until the late 1950’s, and served as a beloved dorm mother in both Reynolds and Robertson Dormitories at Western Carolina College, then University in the 1960’s and early 1970’s.

She retired from Southern Bell in Charlotte and her kids are so very proud of her hard work and the work ethic she instilled in them.

Mom attended Stough Baptist Church, and when Alzheimer’s stole her memories she could still quote scripture and sing hymns in harmony like she did with her sisters.

Thank You Lord, that you never leave or forsake us and You were always holding Mom tightly through the valley of dementia.

Thank you to the special staff at Stanley Total Living Center for the love you poured into Mom. She is whole now, with new eternal memories to share with us when we get there. We love you, Mom. All things have become new.
