Sylvia Ann Banks Morgan, 86, of Mount Holly, North Carolina, passed away on October 9, 2025.
Born on January 25, 1939, in Panama City, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Thadius Charles Banks and Margaret Kennedy Banks. Sylvia was the beloved wife of the late David Ray Morgan, Sr., and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered on her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Morgan, Sr.; her son, David Ray Morgan, Jr.; her daughter, Christina Denise Morgan Walls; and her sister, Gloria Green.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Kenneth Bruce Morgan and his wife, Wilma, of Lowell, NC; her sister, Jeanette Stanley of Charlotte, NC; and her grandchildren: David Sorrow (Necci) of Stanley, NC; Jeremy Walls (Peyton) of Mount Holly, NC; Jennifer Arnold of Lowell, NC; Adam Sides (Dawn) of Newton, NC; Stephanie Cook (Caleb) of Stanley, NC; Kari Morgan of Stanley, NC; Dereck Morgan of Belmont, NC; Kenny Sides (Heather) of Angier, NC; Tiffany Pullen (Richard) of Stanley, NC; and Noah Walls of Mount Holly, NC. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren who will continue her family’s legacy.
Sylvia found joy in tending to her plants, spending hours over puzzles, and playing board and card games with her grandchildren, where laughter and love were always at the center. She had a servant’s heart and was always ready to care for family and friends in times of need. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 375 Woodlawn Avenue, Mount Holly, NC, with Rev. Dexter Green officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring (Hospice Care) of Gastonia, North Carolina.
