Teddy Towner Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Teddy “Tom” Thomas Towner, Jr. who left us peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by his family.

Born on February 12, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom was a beloved son to Ted and Rosemarie Towner, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his unwavering kindness, sharp wit, and quiet strength. Tom had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued—a quality that touched the lives of all who knew him.

A man of integrity and character, Tom dedicated much of his working life to the automotive industry. He was a man of many hobbies and skills; fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars, his wife's Pinterest idea executioner, and an avid reader. He found profound joy being with his family. He was a scout leader at Troop 51 for nearly 20 years, helping guide both his boys through the ranks of Scouts until they both reached Eagle. He coached his daughter in softball for nearly a decade and spent even more time running her around the state to different tournaments. He enjoyed making memories with his family as they travelled throughout the country and Caribbean. He loved the beach, he could sit for hours watching the ocean, reading, and fishing. For the last several years he has enjoyed his time in retirement with his grandchildren; especially boys' night with Cayden and holding Emma’s foot while they watched John Wayne.

Tom’s legacy lives on through his wife of 43 years Debbie; children Tommy (Heather), Emily, and Jonathan (Kristin), his grandchildren Cayden and Emma. He also leaves behind his five younger brothers and sisters Sue Bender (Brian), Trish Hassert (Tony), Tim Towner (Judith), Caroline Martins (Del), and Pete Towner (Kelly); as well as his mother-in-law, Katie Diefendorff and brother-in-law, Mike Ripplinger (Tonya). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends to carry on his strong legacy. He will be remembered not only for his generous heart, sense of humor, and contagious personality, but also for the quiet ways he made the world a better place.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Visitation with the family will be from 10:30-12:00, at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Towner family home for everyone to come together to commemorate the life and legacy of Tom. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Camp Grimes Hurricane Helene Fund by visiting https://donations.scouting.org/#/council/415/appeal/7930, or to the American Lung Association by visiting https://www.lung.org.
