Timothy Love Obituary

MOUNT HOLLY:
Timothy (Tim) Ray Love, 62, of Mount Holly, North Carolina, entered his heavenly home, surrounded by the love of his family on January 30, 2026. Born and raised in Gaston County, Tim was the beloved husband of Cheri Love for 39 years and a devoted father to their son, Youthan Love. He was a constant source of humor, strength, and kindness in their lives. Tim will forever be missed in our lives.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Cheri and son, Youthan; parents, Jerry and Virginia Love of Mount Holly, who instilled in him the values of hard work and loyalty that he carried throughout his life. Tim is also survived by his brother, Joe Love; sister-in-law, Lynn of Mount Holly; Sister, Anna Packett; brother-in-law, Charlie of Gastonia; sister-in-law, Miranda Hicks; aunts, Shirley Phillips, Diane Johnson, and Jenny Wright; numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Each of them holds treasured memories of Tim and the bond they shared as a family. He is also survived by two special friends of 37 years, Jim and Drin Valousky and husband-in-law of 37 years, Randy Cook.
Those who preceded Tim in death include his grandfather, Rev. Bee Love; grandmother, Nellie Jane Barnes Love; grandfather, Charles Dick Cloninger; and grandmother, Beulah Cloninger.
A proud graduate of East Gaston High School, Tim dedicated nearly four decades of his life to his family’s business, Jerry and Sons Auto Service. Known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone who pulled into the shop, Tim became a familiar and trusted face in the Mount Holly community.
Outside of work, Tim’s greatest joy came from simple pleasures. He loved sharing jokes and making those around him laugh—his sense of humor was one of his most defining gifts. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his yard with the same care and attention he gave to everything in his life and chopping and gathering firewood with the love of his life Cheri. On weekends, you could often find him at Zmax Dragway, where he relished the thrill, speed, and excitement of the races.
Tim will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering love for his family. His impact on those who knew him will continue to live on in shared stories, fond memories, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
