On July 13, 2021, Ms. Velda "Ira" Trantham Vause, 93, met Jesus face to face, while surrounded by her family at her home. She was born in Cherokee County to the late Jim and Martha Gertrude Quinn Trantham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Eugene Vause; her daughter, Martha Belcher; her siblings Ethel Ledford, Edith Cochran, Clyde King, Ernest Trantham, Coot Trantham, Willard Trantham, Wink Trantham, and Wayne McAlister; as well as two sons-in-law, Randy Lanham and Deryl Simpson. Velda was a charter member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas. She was a member of the Sole Patrol and was also known for her amazing buttermilk biscuits and her turnover bread and gravy. She will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Betty Lanham, Marie Simpson, Joe Vause (Wanda) and Daniel Vause (Annette); 9 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren; and her fur baby Lucy. She is also survived by her special friend and neighbor whom she loved as a son, Deputy Chief Brian Reagan, and his wife Angie. The family will greet guests from 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate her life will be held immediately following at 12:00, also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Pineview Cemetery in Mount Holly.
