Victor "Andy" Tavarez

Victor Andres "Andy" Tavarez, age 27, passed away on Monday April 20, 2026.  He was born in New York, NY, son of Victor Tavarez Sr., and Maria Garcia who survive.  He is preceded in death by his sister Kimberly Tavarez.  

Andy was born with a rare disease known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and overcame many obstacles throughout his life.  He had the heart of a fighter and defied the odds by living well beyond the age of people with his rare disease.  Andy's dream was to become an astronaut and travel to space to see the universe and experience science on a higher level. He will be remembered as a smart, happy, giving to others before himself, young man with a positive attitude. Andy was also at times was known to be a stubborn young man with a passion for video games and online streaming.  He loved Marvel comics and always attended Comicon which brought him great joy and also loved 90's and 2000's music.  While he will be missed dearly, he is now at peace with Jesus and reunited with his sister Kimberly.  

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his nephew Ozias Young, his maternal grandparents Zenaida and Wilfredo Gonzalez, as well as his dogs Harley Quinn and Millie.  

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday May 3rd, 2026 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service on Sunday also at the Funeral Home.
