Victoria “Vicki” Moore Brabham, 86, passed away at home on June 4, 2024. She was born August 7, 1937, in Belmont, North Carolina to Sam and Angie Moore. Vicki graduated from Mount Holly High School in 1955 and married Bennie Lee Brabham on November 24, 1956. Throughout her life she did secretarial work in a number of fields including law enforcement, construction, and textiles. Vicki finished her career at McGuire Nuclear Station in the tool supply room. The main reason she accepted that position was to witness to an employee who she was able to lead to the Lord.
Vicki moved to and from this area many times due to her husband's career and their family ties. They lived in several small towns throughout Florida and the Carolinas. When they retired they moved to their beachfront home in St. Augustine and later to a lakefront home in Keystone Heights, Florida where Vicki loved the views and entertaining friends and family who visited often. There she was lovingly known as Miss America, a nickname given to her by her husband. Their final move was due to their failing health. They moved in with their daughter, Deanice, who took excellent care of them.
A devout Christian, Vicki served the Lord her whole life having accepted Jesus as her savior as a young child. Wherever she moved, Vicki found community in church. A dedicated prayer warrior, Vicki served the Lord in many ways. She hosted a weekly Christian radio show, served as her church's pianist, toured with a gospel group, and led at many women’s retreats.
Vicki was also fun-loving. She loved to laugh and make others laugh, which she could do by simply laughing herself. Her laugh truly was contagious. She loved comedy movies and slap-stick TV. Vicki also loved frozen desserts and was known to be planning her next frozen custard visit while enjoying an ice cream cone as well as circling the Wendy’s drive through twice to get a second Frosty. Her grandchildren found her very fun-loving as well. She was a fabulous grandmother and they have many wonderful memories of the time they spent together and all the fun places she took them.
Vicki is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her daughters, Deanice Shifflett (spouse, Jeff Dellinger) and Marcia Brabham (spouse, Steve Weitnaur), five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her brother, Terry Moore and sister, Abbie Hartis. Vicki had many others she loved and adopted as family.
