Virginia Reynolds Brooks, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. She was born in McDowell County, WV, on May 24, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Silas Reynolds and Rebecca Kennedy Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Joe Brooks, Sr.; her daughter, Julie Ann Brooks; and her sibilings, Frankie Kennedy, Herschel Reynolds, Claire Reynolds, Thomas Reynolds, Jimmy Reynolds, and Sammy Reynolds.
Mrs. Brooks enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, gardening, and fishing. She was a member of Alexis Baptist Church for over 50 years. She sang with the Kingdom Within Choir and volunteered with the Gaston Baptist Association for over 20 years where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year on a number of occasions. She avidly supported the Baptist Children's Homes and Samaritan's Purse. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family immensely and would stop at a moment's notice to help any family member in need. Sharing the word of Jesus Christ was an important part of her life, so much so that she was continuing to do so in the hospital until the time of her death.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her children, Jack Joe Brooks, Jr. (Rebecca), Ellen Brooks Whitlock (David), and Michael Lynn Brooks (Connie); her grandchildren, Sarah Brooks Delph (Robert), Nathaniel Hunter Brooks (Meghan), Nicholas Skye Whitlock (Amber), Haley Brooks Hickman (Brady), Garrett Lee Brooks (Michaela), and Caleb Michael Brooks (Erica); her great-grandchildren, Lucy, Riley, Peter, Pierce, and Valerie; a special nephew, Tommy Reynolds (Carol); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brooks will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Alexis Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.
