Obituary

Virginia Lee Hawley (Ginny), passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021, surrounded by her beloved family after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. She was born in Bronx, New York on March 22, 1945, to Gertrude and James Kelly. Following a move to central NY and establishing a career in accounting, she married, raised her family, and enjoyed many activities such as bowling, softball, and being a Band Parent, supporting the activities of the Auburn High School Band. Moving to McAdenville, NC in 1997 led to Ginny meeting her long-term partner Robert Pressley, who predeceased her in November 2020.

Left to cherish her memory include her beloved daughter Stacie Hawley; brother Chris Kelly; son-in-law Jeff Schede; nieces, Christine Barber, Tricia Berger (Glenn) and Cindy Casey (John); their children; and beloved grandogs, Domino and Winston. In addition, she will be missed by Robert’s family, including Christine Breedlove, Pam and Rob Youngblood, and Jeff and Tonia Pressley.

She grew to love her life in North Carolina and made many dear friends who will miss her.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Levine Cancer Institute, 1021 Morehead Medical Drive, Charlotte NC 28204
