Virginia Wooten Obituary

Virginia McCoy Wooten, 91, passed away at Caromont Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 10, 2025. Virginia was born in Talladega, Alabama on April 15, 1933, to the late Ben and Ora Hill McCoy. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Wooten Jr., and two sons Joel Wayne and Ferry Dale Wooten.
Virginia was a special lady who loved flowers and gardening. She had a "green thumb "and she especially loved black petunias. She loved being outside, yet the kitchen was where she spent a great deal of time cooking and baking. She spent many years canning fresh garden vegetables not only for her family but for others as well. She worked in housekeeping for many years at the Stanley Total Living Center where she helped mend clothing for the residents along with caring for them. Her love language was to take care of others and that is what she did. She had a knack for putting floral arrangements together for people simply because she loved flowers. She had a special" neighbor friend " Jean Stilwell who often checked on her and made sure she was taken care of. They were great friends for many years.
Those left to cherish sweet Virginia's memories are her Daughter Connie Featherstone, and her grandchildren, Jack Featherstone Jr. (Amanda) Malinda Hunt (James), Ammie Pittman, Legare Wooten (Jeff), Alex Wooten, and Jacob Wooten. Her Great Grandchildren Jacquelyn West (Jordan), Whitley Austin, Kimberly Fox (Marcus), Jessica McClain, Cheyenne Featherstone, Joseph Gibson, Baley Hunt, Tyler Wooten, Cohen Wooten, Brennan Zick, Kelly Pittman, Robbie Pittman, Anthony Pittman, Rowdy Pittman, and Travis Pittman. She had 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its gratitude to Via Health Partners for caring for Mrs. Wooten.
