Wayne Lee Beaty, 78, met his sweet Lord and savior on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Charles and Jeanette Walker Beaty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life Janice Deese Beaty of 52 years and a special friend Robert Payne.
Wayne was a proud Sergeant in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he married Jan and they spent years in the Mt. Holly area raising their only son Chad. He was employed at Duke Power for 18 years where he worked on the rigging crew, and small tool repair. Wayne then moved to his passion for racing with Joe Gibbs Racing. He worked with the pit crew as a tire specialist and was a test hauler driver. He spent more than 20 years as a faithful hardworking employee. Wayne also loved his family immensely. He has missed Jan so much since her passing over a year ago and his saving grace has always been his only Grandson Sawyer. He spent countless years with Jan by his side helping with their precious Sawyer. He has always held the biggest part of their hearts. Since Janice’s passing, Amanda, his daughter-in-law, has without a doubt stepped up and handled everything from medical needs, bill paying, paperwork, keeping everything in line just as Jan did. She will never understand the gratitude and the dignity that Wayne felt as well as Chad for simply put “being Amanda”. She was never just a daughter-in-law; she was a daughter.
The family left to cherish his memories, is his son Chad and his wife Amanda, his precious grandson Sawyer Lee Beaty, two sister -in- laws who meant the world to him and have helped tremendously, Linda Capps, and Sherry Deese. Wayne had countless special friends that were also dear to him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pearl Baptist Church on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 3:00 pm to honor his life. The family will also greet friends from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm prior to the service. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
