Wayne Eugene Carlisle, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Robin Johnson House. He was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, son of the late Travis Wendell Carlisle and Willie Mae Pressley Carlisle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Carlisle, Loretta Taylor, Jerry Carlisle, Barry Carlisle, and Wendell Carlisle; and his son-in-law, Roy Dennis.
Mr. Carlisle is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Candace Hart Carlisle; his daughters, Cindi Dennis (Scott Cherry), Cristi Laye (Larry), and Lauren Griffin (Devon); his grandchildren, Natalie Dennis, Colby Muir, and Tyler Dennis; his great-grandchildren, Canton Muir and Rowan Dennis; a number of nieces and nephews; and his love and companion, Abby.
Mr. Carlisle was retired from his dedicated work in various industries, ending his career as a driver for steel manufacturing. In addition to his work, he had the biggest passion of spending time with his family and serving the church. His spare time was spent fishing and vacationing at the beach, and he volunteered for several decades in children ministry at Catawba Heights Baptist Church of Belmont, NC.
The family will greet guests from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Catawba Heights Baptist Church in Belmont. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Carlisle will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the church. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.
