William (Bill) Morris Koger, 93, of Charlotte, NC, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1932, in Martinsville, VA to the late William M. Koger, Sr. and Laura Franklin Koger. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Timothy Morris Koger. He was a graduate of Campbell Jr. College and East Carolina College (now both universities). He worked for the North Carolina Department of Correction, Division of Adult Probation and Parole for 38 years and received the "Order of the Long Leaf Pine" upon retirement. Mr. Koger was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC, where he was a member of the Joe Reeves Sunday School Class and served as president for several years. He served on numerous committees and was devoted to missions and headed up a day-old bread/dairy ministry for years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in a Military Police unit. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Durema (Dee) Simmons Koger; sons, Keith (Amy) of Charlotte, Brian (Ann-Marie) of Portsmouth, VA; daughter, Laura Melton (Charles "Chuck") of Charlotte, and son, Neal of Charlotte. Bill adored his five grandchildren, Christina Melton, Nick Melton (Amber), Noah Melton (Andria), Mary Koger, and William Koger, III; two great-grandsons, Lane Edward Melton, Milo Charles Melton; and two great-granddaughters, Hadleigh Ruby Melton and Selah Lynn Melton.
A memorial service will be held on Monday December 22,2025 at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church 8020 Bellhaven Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28216. The Rev. Ross O'Neal and Rev. Donnie Mitchem will officiate. The family will greet guests an hour before the service.
