William Hunter "Soap" Miller, 74, of 542 Woodsong Lane, Stanley, died November 17, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Mecklenburg County on November 4, 1949. He worshiped God, he loved his family, and he served his fellow man.
He served in the Army National Guard from 1968-1971, he was a dedicated Duke Power employee from 1968 to 1998, when his vision forced him to retire early. He was a devoted member at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for his entire life, where he served on numerous committees and as a Deacon throughout the years. He loved his church family and served his God faithfully.
Soap was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Graham Miller; his parents, Rev. Billy Robert Miller and Carolyn Elizabeth (Beth) Miller; and a brother, Robert Bradford Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Tate Miller of the home; son, William Brent Miller and wife Brandi of Iron Station; two grandchildren, Theryn & Lawson Miller, that he adored abundantly; sister, Michelle Skibo (who went above and beyond to make sure that he was taken care of daily) and husband, Rick; sister-in-law, Shelia Howard and husband, Junior; several nieces & nephews (all of whom were special to him) also survive him.
A celebration of Soap's life will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2151 Mt. Zion Church Rd., Alexis, NC on Monday, November 20, 2023. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m., prior to the 1:00 p.m. service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
