William "Willie" Alex Vanover

William Alex Vanover "Willie", 60, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Lois Hale Vanover and the late Sam Vanover. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Rocky Nicholson; great granddaughter, Krizma Nicholson; son-in-law, Terry Long, and his favorite brother-in-law, Wesley Welch. Willie enjoyed going camping, Raiders and Panthers football. He loved anything "Dr. Who", and shared this passion with his nephew Jason Vanover. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dianne Vanover; daughters, Amanda and Rhonda; son, Jamie Featherstone (Linda); sister, Darlene Hall; sister-in-law, Debbie Welch; brother, Sam Vanover (Kathy); brother-in-law, Kenneth Welch (Leigh); 3 grandsons, Robby, Dustin, and Jason; 1 great grandson, JT; his fur baby, Jake; and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Friday, August 20, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate Willie's life will be held immediately following at 2:00, also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
