Yates Lee Pryor

Yates Lee Pryor, 92, of Mount Holly, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22nd, with his family by his side.  Yates was born on July 9th, 1930 in Gaston County, NC, and was the son of the late Luther Pryor and Eunice Huffstetler Pryor.  Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 67 years, Sarah Edwards Pryor; daughters Beth Pryor and Amanda Eldridge (Kevin); grandson Mac Eldridge (Sara); granddaughter Macey Lang (Kyle); and great grandchildren, Bradley and Hayden Lang, and Kennedy Eldridge.  

Yates grew up in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School in 1950.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, serving in both Korea and Japan.  Yates graduated from Kings Business School in Charlotte and retired from Paramount Pictures after 31 years.  

He loved to hunt, belonging to several hunt clubs in South Carolina.  He was a long-time member of Pine Island Country Club, playing golf many times per week.  He is a member of both the Mt. Holly and Belmont Historical Societies, sharing many of his pictures with both. 

He has always been active in his Church, singing in the Choir and volunteering for many projects and activities.  He is currently a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Holly.

Yates brought a lot of joy and happiness to all those around him.  He was always eager to help anyone and had a joke to keep you laughing.  He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
