Betty L. James Hutto, 81, of Stanley, died Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home. She was born in Atmore, Alabama, daughter of the late Malisa Digman and L.C. James and was the youngest of nine children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Roger C. Brown and eight brothers and sisters. She was a member of Master Gardner Group of Gaston County, volunteered at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, and was a member of Ranlo Quilt Club. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years David Roden Hutto; children Keitha Brown Zittle (Richard) of Alexis and Kimberly Hutto Rhyne (Steven) of Stanley; grandchildren Zachary D. Brown (Ashlee) of Mount Holly, Rachel E. Brown of Dallas, Rebecca B. Nance (Greg) of Concord, Caleb M. Rhyne and Emily A. Rhyne both of Stanley; three great-grandchildren Macie and Silas Brown, and Isaiah Nance. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County, East Gaston Adult Day Center, Mount Holly, and special care givers Earline Harris, Michele Barbee, Lisa Duncan, Crystal Ghorley, Elizabeth Harvey, Amber Thomason, and Tammy White. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, officiated by Rev. Scott Jenkins. The family will greet guests for one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
