Evelyne Johnson Gosnell

Evelyne Johnson Gosnell, 75, of Mt. Holly, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 during a temporary stay for recovery at Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley.  Evelyne was born on February 17, 1943.  She was the ninth child born into a family of eleven siblings.  Her late parents were Earsie Miller Johnson and Jesse A. Pope.  She is also preceded in death by her husband of 36 years before his passing in 1997, Franklin D. Gosnell, Sr.  She has two living brothers, Harvey and Becky Bryant, Sr. and Johnny Pope; one living sister Mary Simpson; five children Anna Marie Gosnell of the home, Delores Gosnell of Mt. Holly, Franklin D. Gosnell, Jr., of Stanley, Teresa Gosnell of Mt. Holly, and Kimberly R. Jones of Stanley; seven grandchildren Jimmy Gosnell, Jessica G. and Brandon Payne, Joshua Gosnell, Jonathan Gosnell, Isabel Martinez, Makayla Gosnell, Hannah (Gabby) Martinez; six great grandchildren Alyssa, Halie, Katelyne, Abigail, Zachary, and Kaleb; as well as lots of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  Related or not, everyone she had the pleasure of meeting will always love and remember her as Momma.  So, Momma, Mawmaw Evelyne, we’ll miss you very very much.  You were loved by many.  A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Revival Tabernacle, 212 S. Hwy 27 in Stanley.  Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.  The body will lie in state and the family will receive friends at the home of Jimmy Gosnell, 213 General J.E. Johnston Street in Stanley beginning at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 22, 2018.
