HELEN BERNICE FISHER SMITH, 99, died January 1, 2019 at the Stanley Total Living Center. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret Loretta Smith Fisher, and was preceded in death by her husband Gorman Smith, a daughter Brenda Smith and 13 siblings. She attended New Life Baptist Church in Stanley and retired from J.P. Stevens in Stanley.

Survivors include a son Tony Smith of Stanley, a daughter Judy Smith of Stanley, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by Reverends David McClure and Mark Etchison will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday January 5 in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Mauney Family Cemetery in Stanley.
