Ira Wendell Boyles, 77, went to be with his heavenly father and loved ones June 7, 2018.
He was born September 17th, 1940 outside of Winston-Salem, NC to the late Curner Boyles and Gladys Laws.
Ira attended East Carolina University where he met his wife. He entered the US Army and received an honorable discharge 1965. In November of 1969 he was introduced to fatherhood when his daughter Shaaron was born. He went on to have various jobs but spent his career in the accounting and pricing departments at Associated Grocers for 20 years and later Biggers Brothers and US Food Service. In 2006 he and Mary Anne went back and forth between North Carolina and Scottsdale AZ. He was an active church member at Revival Tabernacle Church of Stanley NC and The Rock Church of Arizona.
Ira was known to always be helping with church activities from painting, mowing grass, and facilitating the mechanics of various functions. He was the Revival Tabernacle Men’s Fellowship Secretary and Treasurer from 1976-2011. While in Arizona he assisted the construction workers of the US MAPS program. He enjoyed greeting people and was known to be a teaser. He had his own unique relationship with the Lord. He was a faithful husband. As a father, he was always willing to play sports with his daughter while she was growing up. Several of his friends and neighbors will miss his willingness to help others and constant joking around.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anne L Boyles, daughter Shaaron Boyles and grandson Silas. He is also survived by his cousins of Winston-Salem, Greg Bennett and Max Bennett. Ira and Mary Anne would have been married 55 years on Saturday June 9th.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 9th at Revival Tabernacle Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at New Covenant Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Revival Tabernacle Church or the Rock Church mission ministries.
