Jack Ray Riley, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. Jack was born in Gaston County, son of the late Ernest and Berthie May Barber Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clementine Rose Riley; his daughter, Rose Eudy; his sisters, Virginia Riley, and Ernestine (Tinny) Pope; his brother, Paul Riley; uncles, Willard Barber and Junior Barber; and aunts, Mable Moss, Christine Barber and Margaret Bryant. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War.
Jack is survived by his son, Ernest Helms; his sister, Patricia Riley; his grandchildren, Steve Melton, Jr., Chris Melton, Lisa Melton, Charity Henson, and Danielle Melton; eleven great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jack's life is planned for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Interment will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
