Janet Marie (Sossamon) Hinson

Janet Marie Sossamon Hinson, 64, of Lowesville, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, August 26, 2019 while on vacation in Charleston.  She was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Jonathan Harvey Sossamon, Sr. and Annie Hazelene Gant Sossamon.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Marie Hinson and sister Judy Hazelene Sossamon Hicks.  Janet taught middle school chorus to over 7000 students at five different schools over a span of 33 years.  She was the choir director at several local churches lastly at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Mount Holly.  She loved spending time and vacationing with her family at the coast where she loved watching turtles.  Her greatest love was God and people especially, children and babies. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 40 years William Marvin Hinson, who called her "Kid"; sons Christopher Marvin Hinson and his wife Kaitlyn and Matthew William Hinson and girlfriend Molly Hayes; siblings Jane Ann Sossamon Ervin (Gary), Joni Sossamon Pressley (Randy), Jonathan Harvey Sossamon, Jr (Leisa), and brother in-law Frankie Hicks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31 at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 14514 Lucia Riverbend Highway, Mount Holly.  The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:45 prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be held privately at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant United Methodist Church.
