Virginia "Cathy" Cathleen (Carter) Small

Cathy Small passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Stanley Total Living Center on Friday, Jan 19, 2017. She was born to Otta Mae Hodges Carter and James Carter in Boone, North Carolina June 29, 1924 and was raised in the mountains she loved.. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl P. Small, her parents and an infant daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Small.

Cathy is survived by her children, Robert “Bob” Jenkins (Betty Jenkins) of Murphy, NC, Julia Carl (William “Bill” Carl) of Pt. Charlotte, FL and Carl P. Small, II (Debbie Small) of Mt. Holly, NC, grandchildren, Robin Jenkins, Audrey (Cecil) Hamby and Cassandra Small, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Cathy is in a better happier place now and will be remembered with love by her family and friends. Thank you to the staff of Stanley Total Living Center for taking such good care of our mother in her final years.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the family.
