Alice Faye (Sutton) Clay

Alice Clay, 80, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was a native of Halifax County, NC, daughter of the late A.D. and Jennie Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Clay; her sons, Gene Cuthrell and Craig Cuthrell; her sisters, Bobbie Strickland and Mae Dee Blackmon; and her brother, John Sutton.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Belmont, NC.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Susan Johnson and Michelle Lanier; her son, Rodney Clay, her sisters, Jean Branch and Peggy Eagles; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, NC. She will lie in repose at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The family will greet guests at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
