Laurie Allen Bozardt, 55, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of Janice Northington Bozardt and the late Ronald Wilkinson Bozardt, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his niece, Sarah Bozardt. Allen spent 30 years with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, working his way up to the rank of Captain prior to his retirement. His hobby for 37 years was taxidermy, which he got interested in because of his love for fishing and hunting. While practicing taxidermy, he was fortunate to mentor Lacey Waldrup, whom he considered one of his own. Lacey will continue his taxidermy legacy. When not working, hunting, or fishing, he could be found teaching his kids how to garden, can, cook, and so much more.
Mr. Bozardt is survived by his wife, Melissa Thayer Bozardt; his sons, Kristopher Bozardt (Chelsey) and Brandon Bozardt (Hannah); his grandchildren, Rylee and Mason; his brother, Ronnie Bozardt (Kathy); his nephew, Caleb Bozardt; his niece, Emily Friday (Cameron); great-niece, Hallie Friday; and his sidekick and canine daughter, Butter.
