Charles Howard Curtis, Sr.

Rev. Charles Howard Curtis, Sr., 82, of Dallas, met Jesus face to face on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born in Haywood County to the late Manders Manuel Curtis and Alice Queen Curtis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elvy Curtis; his daughter, Joyce Black; his grandson, Chad Black; his son-in-law, Billy Morton; and his siblings, Ray, Junior, Keith, Claude, Lucy, and Bernice. He was a pastor for over 60 years. His life was his testimony. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a pastor, friend and mentor to many over the years. He loved to garden and he loved helping people. He was known as Big Pawpaw to his great grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Doris Gates ; his children, Charles Howard Curtis, Jr., Jimmy Wayne Curtis, Sr. and his wife Tammy, and Cathy Osborne and her husband Michael; his sisters, Doris Worthey and Judy Hall; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. The family will greet guests from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Open Bible Assembly, 106 East Jenkins Street, Dallas, NC 28034. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022. also at the church. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Bible Assembly at the mailing address of 1610 Mayberry Road, Dallas, NC 28034 or to Faith In God Missions, P.O. Box G East Flat Rock, NC 28726. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
