David Helms Obituary
David C. Helms, 78, of Stanley, passed away on August 22, 2020 at his home. He was born October 18, 1941 to Ernest L. Helms and Mary Moore Helms. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1959, attended Belmont Abbey, and started his construction company in 1962.
He was married to Sherry Long Helms for 58 years. In addition to Sherry, he is survived by his children, Christy Helms Haynes and husband Steve, and Wade Helms; his granddaughters, Hilary Blackwood (Drew) and Sadie Andrade (Gui); great-grandsons, Henry and George Blackwood; his sister, Faye Moore; his brother, Buck Helms (Ann); his granddog, Cocoa; and his best buddy, Digger.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Hospice of Gaston County, with a special thanks to his nurse, Paula Robb for her care, compassion and guidance though this process. A very special thank you to Mike and Luke Moore for the time spent with David and the love given to him.
A CELEBRATION of David's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Stanley Creek Vinyard, 1301 Stanley-Lucia Rd., Mount Holly. Please dress casually.
