Doris Jane (Keever) Hovis

Doris Keever Hovis, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Earl and Minnie Viola Helton Keever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Layton Hovis. Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; and as an active leader in her church senior citizen group at Shady Brook Baptist Church, Charlotte.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Michael Ernest Hovis (Tina), Timothy Alan Hovis and Jonathan Eric Hovis (Cathy); her brother, Glenn Keever and his wife Nancy and her sister, Shirley Plyer; her grandchildren, Jennifer Snyder (Michael), Steven Palumbo (Katie), Megan Mitchell (Adam), Abbie Hovis, Erin Fitzhenry (William), Daniel Hovis (Erica), Rachel Finley (Tyler), Carey Bradley (Ben) and Luke Hovis; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Shady Brook Baptist Church, 2940 Belmeade Dr., Charlotte, NC 28214. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery-West, Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm on Friday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Brook Baptist Church.
