Eva Gail (Jones) Thayer

Eva Gail Jones Thayer of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2021 at Atrium Hospital in Pineville, NC. Gail was born on November 13, 1949 in Bryson City, NC. She was the youngest of nine children and was spoiled by her Mom, Dad, and siblings like you would expect the youngest child to be. Gail attended Swain County High School and moved to Charlotte, NC in 1968 where she lived until her death. She retired as an administrative assistant at Home Depot’s corporate office in Charlotte, NC. Gail spent her time gardening, enjoying the outdoors, watching football, and spoiling her grandkids. Being an amazing MawMaw, wife, and mom were her greatest accomplishments and she will continue to live on through each and every one of them. Gail is survived by her adoring husband, Robert W. Thayer (Bob), her daughter, Marcy Hothersall (Britt Hothersall), and grandchildren, Adam Hothersall, Eric Hothersall, and Avery Hothersall. She is also survived by her sister Jessie Jenkins and her brothers, Dave Jones and Earl Jones (Brenda Jones), along with a special sister-in-law, Helen Plummer, also including many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph Wheeler Jones and Evie Greene Jones, brothers, Clyde Jones and Sam Jones, and sisters, Pearl Snyder, Shirley Stroupe, and Ruby Waldroup. She enjoyed many family gatherings through the years and especially loved our large Christmas celebrations, the Greene reunions, and family dinners at The Open Kitchen. We will miss the great meals prepared in her kitchen, the funny stories she shared with us, and her unique sense of humor. We will all be reunited again one day in paradise. There will be a celebration of life for Gail Thayer with family members at a later date.
