He was a leader of Boy Scout Troop 51 and was a member of the cook team for Catawba Lodge Order of the Arrow. Lyle was also a long standing member and served as president of the Charlotte chapter of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, canoeing and teaching the young scouts the proper use of profanity. He could always be found helping someone or making them laugh. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Bonnie; children, Parker Pace and Laura Powell and her husband Michael; grandsons, Malachi and Ryan Powell; as well as his brother, John Pace and his wife Terri. The family will greet guests following the service at the church.
