JoAnn Deaton Evans, 82, went home to rest in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, May 1, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Floyd Deaton and Wilma Cooper Deaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Evans. Granny, as she was known by her family and close friends, was a simple and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended Christ Church of Denver.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughters, Janet Evans and Dale Yoder (Kevin); her grandchildren, Wayne Ward, Sarah Ward, Alan Yoder (Emily), and Jeremy Yoder (Brittany); and 4 great-grandchildren, Issac Brock, Savannah Brock, Eira Yoder, and Karter Yoder; a great great-granddaughter, Jada Brock; and 5 brothers.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Evans will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte.
