John E. Helms, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26th, 2021. He was born on February 5th, 1937, in Charlotte, NC in Mecklenburg County, to the late Rena and Roy Helms. John was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and being involved in his community. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick-witted humor, and strength. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters, Alton Lee, and Vickie Griffin. Left to cherish John’s memories are his wife, Nancy Helms; Daughters, Patti Roberts and husband Allen, Pam Darnall and husband Danny; Sisters Barabara Hinson and husband John, Faye Marlowe, Katherine Patterson, Rose Caudle; Grandchildren, Heather Ward, Sam Ward, and wife Christian, Bobby and wife Tara; Great Grand Children, Zachary Hans, Kaleb Hans, Tyler Howe, Matthew Ward, Sarah Ward, Emma Ward, Samantha Ward, Kasey Daniels. Per John's wishes no service has been planned and we will honor his wishes. Family gathering information will follow.
