Joseph Eugene Seaman, 95, of Gastonia, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in McDowell County, son of the late Joseph Anthony Seaman and Mary Elizabeth Hill Seaman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anna Hogan Seaman, as well as two brothers Willard and Stewart Seaman, and two sisters Louise Seaman and Mildred Wiliford. Joe served in the United States Army during WWII. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired from South Fork Manufacturing after 43 years, and was a Co-Owner of Seaman Tree Service. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter Charlotte Messer and her husband Tim, and a son Ned Seaman and his wife Joyce; a brother Doug Seaman and his wife Jane; three sisters Lillian Seaman, Edna Ghorley and her husband Bob, and Frances Thompson; grandchildren Clifton Messer and his wife Jamie, Stacey Messer, Elizabeth Seaman, Makenzie Seaman, Isabella Camp and Thomas Camp; great grandchildren Jackson and Rylee Messer; as well as special friends Dot and Malcolm Reynolds, and Terry and Miriam Helton. The family will greet guests from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. Online condolences may be left at www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
