Linda Rae (Kirby) Davis

Linda Rae Davis, 78, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, in Mount Holly, NC. Linda was born along with her twin sister, Glenda, on October 9, 1940 to James and Bonnie Kirby and lived her whole life in the Mt. Holly area.  Linda met her future husband and the love of her life, Dennis Davis, on a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Lucky for her, Dennis was a local boy, living in Stanley, NC and after a two-year courtship, they were married February 21, 1965. For the next 37 years, Dennis and Linda shared their love and made their home on Old Hickory Grove Road - growing their family to include Carmen (b.1969) and Bryan (b.1971). During that time, Linda also began a career at American & Efird. Linda proudly worked as a customer service representative at A&E for 34 years, until her retirement in 2001.  Linda (also known as ‘Sissy’ to those closest to her) was a dear friend to everyone she knew. She had a deep love of music as well as taking trips to the beach with her family. Linda was an active member of Tuckaseege Baptist Church. She was also an avid piano player and singer – sharing her singing talents with her church choir throughout her life. Linda loved to read, dance, and spend time with her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Michael) McCulloh and her son, Bryan (Kristine) Davis; grandchildren, Megan McCulloh, Alyssa McCulloh, and Aliyah Davis; sister, Glenda (Jimmy) Horton. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis (d.2002), and her parents.  Linda will be entombed at Hillcrest Gardens after funeral services at Woodlawn Funeral Home (375 Woodlawn Ave, Mt Holly, NC 28120) on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
